The MUSUBI Initiative, launched during the UK National Day at World Expo 2025 Osaka, marks a new phase in UK-Japan cooperation focused on fostering long-term people-to-people connections.
It will support a wide range of programmes including youth scholarships, cultural and sporting exchanges, science and innovation partnerships, and initiatives to empower women in business.
Named after the Japanese word for “connection,” MUSUBI builds on the growing bilateral relationship reflected in agreements like the Hiroshima Accord and the UK’s accession to the CPTPP.
The MUSUBI Initiative represents another step forward in delivering the Government’s Plan for Change by fostering international relationships that drive economic growth and opportunity.
